From the viewpoint of Freud"s group psychology, this study investigated the psychological mechanism of how athletes accept corporal punishment and whether corporal punishment within the athletic group is preserved through mental changes in the process of what kind of ego development process. In the preservation of corporal punishment within the athletic group, firstly, When an excessive “idealization” or ‘ego ideal’ of an athlete being in love" called ‘libido causes ‘identification’ as an emotional bond of the athletic club, thereby causing a corporal punishment situation it means that corporal punishment is preserved by the occurrence of ego-devotion’ for the athletic group. Secondly, the ‘ego-ideal’ of the leader in the athletic group causes the athlete to lose their subjectivity, have no resistance to the leader"s corporal punishment, and accept the corporal punishment. Therefore, in the future, we will need to do research such as〈What kind of collective emotion formation within the athletic group is the psychological attitude to tolerate corporal punishment?〉. Through this study, it is thought that possible to overcome the limitations of focusing only on individual psychology and find a solution to eradicate corporal punishment in the athletic group through an approach to the possibility of subjective psychological change of individual athletes in the group.
