Pollen morphology of Korean Gentianaceae representing 8 genera 24 taxa was investigated by light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The pollen grains are 22.68-63.84×2l.28-56.00㎛ in size, oblate-spheroidal and prolate shape in equatorial view, except Haknia which has oblate and peroblate, circular and semi-triangular in amb shape, except Halenia which is (semi-)triangular; Three aperture types are recognized: 3-colporoidate, 3-4 colp(oroid)ate and 3-colpate, which are useful characters for distinguishable the Gentianaceous genera, ora of the Anagallidium and Getiana has laternal extension; 0.8-3.1㎛ in exine thickness, columellae developed evenly through the exine layer. Surface sculptures are striate, some genera has foveolate-psilate and reticulate patterns. The results of pollen morphology suggested that Gentiana uchiyamai and G, axillariflora var. coreana should be merged in G. triflora var. japonica. Gentiana wootchuliana, a new species and G. chosenica, Korean endemic species, were revealed to be closely related to sect. Chodrophylla. The pollen morphological variations of the genus Gentiana are quite wide. Palynological characters appear to be useful for classification of section and genera of the Korean Gentianaceae.
