The purpose of this research is to analyze the involvement of the Israeli military authority on politics and its involvement level and process following the establishment of the state of Israel. In the case of Israel, the Israeli military establishment plays an important role not only as a social integration mechanism but also as a human resource pool for political recruitment beyond the role of defense establishment.
Additionally, the security threats and the environment surrounding Israel, since the establishment of Israel, have offered room for the Israeli military to participate in politics and policy decision-making, which has been strengthened by the majority of Israelis’ social consensus and support for it. Particularly, the recent strife and conflicts from Israeli-Arabs and Palestinians in the West Bank have justified the participation of Israeli military in politics and the policy decision-making process. Therefore, this research was launched in order to trace the formation and development of Israel’s military involvement in politics and the policy decision-making process according to chronological order, and to make an assessment of its implication toward Israeli democracy.
