본고에서는 대전 지역 서원인 숭현서원(崇賢書院)과 도산서원(道山書院)의 활성화 방 안을 유교문화콘텐츠의 측면에서 논의하였다. 현대에 있어 서원의 위상과 유교문화콘텐 츠의 필요성을 살펴보고, 숭현서원과 도산서원의 유교문화콘텐츠의 활용 현황을 점검해 보았다. 두 서원의 적극적 활용의 필요성을 제기한 후, 역사체험이나 선비정신?인성 교 육, 관광 및 문화콘텐츠산업 등으로의 활용방안을 제시하는 순서로 논의를 진행하였다. 숭현서원의 최근 활용실적으로는 ‘서원스테이’와 2015년 진행된 ‘유교문화활성화’ 사 업이 있다. 도산서원은 “역사와 문화가 살아 숨 쉬는 향교?서원 만들기 사업”을 2015년 과 2016년에 걸쳐 수행한 것이 대표적이다. 이외의 활용실적은 매우 저조하며, 이 사업마 저도 두 서원만의 개성을 살린 프로그램은 거의 없어 대전 지역 서원만의 차별화된 콘텐 츠가 부족한 실정이다. 이에 논자는 다음과 같은 방향에서 두 서원의 유교문화콘텐츠의 활용방안을 제시하였 다. ‘1) 기존 사업을 활용한 유교문화콘텐츠 개발’의 방법으로 지역성을 통한 차별화, 벤치 마킹, 선비수련관의 건립 등의 방향에서 논의하였다. ‘2) 기존 자원을 활용한 유교문화콘 텐츠 개발’의 방법으로 선비길 조성, 대전 시티투어버스 노선 추가, 2015년 ‘호서명현 박 람회’의 자원 활용, 정부 사업 방향에 맞춘 유교문화콘텐츠 개발, 디지털콘텐츠를 활용한 유교문화콘텐츠 개발, 철학 치유, 종가 음식 체험, 촬영 장소로의 활용 등의 방법을 제시 하였다. 그동안 대전지역의 서원이 소극적 보존에 머물렀던 만큼, 21세기에는 적극적 활용을 위 해 미래지향적 문화콘텐츠로 새롭게 거듭나야 한다. 현재 전문?관리인력 등 인프라가 부족한 서원 단독의 힘으로는 한계가 있다. 그러므로 학계 및 민관기관과의 공조?협력 을 통해 창의적인 콘텐츠 개발을 추진해야 한다. 그러기 위해서는 정부, 지자체, 관계자, 지역민들이 모두 우리 지역의 서원에 대한 애정과 관심을 끝까지 잊지 말아야 한다.
This study has discussed ways to revitalize Sunghyeonseowon Confucian Academy and Dosanseowon Confucian Academy, two major Confucian Academies located in Daejeon region from the perspective of Confucian cultural content. I have examined the current status of Confucian academy and the necessity of Confucian cultural content and how Confucian cultural content are utilized by both Sunghyeonseowon Confucian Academy and Dosanseowon Confucian Academy. I have presented the necessity of active utilization of such content by these two Confucian academies, followed by the ways of utilization in historical experiences or Seonbi (classical scholar) spirit and personality education, tourism and cultural content industry. The recent accomplishments to promote utilization of such content by Sunghyeonseowon Confucian Academy include the ‘Confucian Academy Stay’ and the ‘Confucian Cultural Revitalization’ projects in 2015. Dosanseowon Confucian Academy proceeded with implementing the project of “Building the Confucian temple and academy with the history and culture restored alive” in 2015 through 2016. Other than that, there were few outstanding accomplishments and this particular project had lack of programs that reflected the unique characteristics of these two Confucian academies, resulting in the lack of differentiated content of Confucian academies in Daejeon district. Against this background, I have presented ways of utilizing the Confucian cultural content of these two Confucian academies as described below. ‘1) I have conducted discussions on ways to develop the Confucian cultural content utilizing the existing projects in terms of differentiation, benchmarking and the establishment of Seonbi Training Center. ‘2) As ways to develop the Confucian cultural content utilizing the existing resources, I have made several proposals, including building the Seonbi Road, adding bus lines for Daejeon City Tour Bus, utilization of the resources of 2015 ‘Ho-Seo-Myeong-Hyeon Expo’, development of Confucian cultural content aligned with the direction of government projects, development of Confucian cultural content utilizing digital content, philosophical healing, experience with culinary foods of the head family, and utilization of academies for drama shooting spots. The Confucian academies in Daejeon district have taken the position of passive preservations and should be directed toward renovating its image as being future-oriented cultural heritage and raising their sense of existence in the 21st century by actively utilizing available resources. The Confucian academies alone have limited capacity in terms of professional and administrative personnel and infrastructure and a close cooperation and collaboration with academia as well as with public and private sectors will be much required to jointly develop creative and rich content. For that, all relevant stakeholders, including the government, local autonomous bodies, concerned personnel and community residents should sustain their love and attention to the Confucian academies in our local community.
