This study aims at obtaining both students’ and teachers’ perceptions on the sudden influx of theBritish English pronunciation into the secondary schools’ English Listening Comprehension Test since2013. As English has become an international language, Korea began to include the Britishpronunciation into the test in order to reflect the varieties of current English from around the world. This study was done using a questionnaire survey which included a few open-ended questions forboth students and teachers to see their perceptions and attitudes toward the influx of Britishpronunciation into the test. The student survey shows that they tend to have anxiety toward theBritish pronunciation in the test. The teacher survey shows that they have a positive attitude towardvarious English pronunciations including the British one, despite their concerns about students’ testresults and their own difficulty teaching it. Teachers also wanted to offer the students variousopportunities of listening diversities, therefore suggested support from outside to change orcomplement the current textbooks and curriculum.
