Based on Paul Ricoeur’s Hermeneutics study, this paper attempts to show that the married immigrant women’s loss of homeland in mourning is not working in multicultural counseling. Married immigrant women’s discourses are too violent and one-sided in Korean society. Recently, the rate of foreign women who accept the hand of marriage from a Korean man are rapidly increasing and occurring in the center part of Southeast Asia. However, foreign immigrant women are experiencing violence, shunned from their human rights and placed in an unstable legal position in their marriages. Therefore, the divorce rates of multicultural families are exponentially rising.
The depression and sorrow caused by the mourning inhibits an deadly role in the human’s mental health. The society we live in should stop treating immigrant women in an inadequate way and help them to overcome their hardships. This composition expresses the belief that when we face a loss and live with that loss, a new adaptation and communication will be created through enough mourning.
According to Paul Ricoeur, he believed that Hermeneutics in text is the path to reach self-understanding with the text connecting the object(world) and the subject(self). Paul Ricoeur’s Hermeneutics is one magnificent methodology for interpreting the married immigrant women in multicultural counseling. As a result, the organic system will influence the Korean spouse and the children in a family.
