This study deals with the lower-income middle-aged people’s preparation for the last time of their lives. It aims to seek the factors to activate the preparation for the last time of their lives even their low incomes. To this end, this study clearly defined the perception of successful aging and analyzed how the low-income middle-aged people perceive successful aging. For the present study, a survey was conducted among 265 low-income middle-aged people in their 40s-50s, who were attending local rehabilitation centers, employment support centers, located in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. The main result of this study is, in analyzing the impact on preparation for the last time of life by successful aging perception under the control of demographic factors, the successful aging perception was observed to significantly affect preparation for the last time of life, regardless of income. The detailed review revealed that among successful aging perception elements, personal growth, recognition of others, and recognition of the search for a meaning in life had a significant impact on preparation for the last time of life. It is thus necessary to raise successful aging perception and to provide practical education to prepare for the last time of life.
