We performed a permanent treatment test on permed hair, which is the most frequently used for treatment in order to utilize the earthworm autolyzate as raw materials of hair cosmetics. We treated on permed hair, after pre-treatment, with the worm's low molecular earthworm autolyzate for 24 hours at 60°C and then, analyzed the curl-forming ability, curl-persistency and damage of hairs. When getting a permanent, the curl-forming ability of the hair showed shorter time by 14.4% and 16.8% respectively at the single-time permed hair and the three-times permed hair than at the control group, and when being shampooed for 30 times, the curl-persistency was also better at those permed hair groups than at the control group showing shorter wave length by 20.4% and 22.0% respectively. The thickness of hairs showed 4.3% and 6.0% thicker respectively at the single-time permed hair and the three-times permed hair than at the control group, and the tensile strength was 6.2% lower at the single-time permed hair (p<.001) and 2.1% lower at the three-times permed hair (p<.001) than at the control group. When dyeing with methylene blue, the single-time permed hair showed 11.2% lower absorbance than the control group (p<.001), but the three-times permed hair showed 14.7% higher absorbance (p<.001) than the control group. From these results, it seemed that the porous parts were generated by loose binding when the earthworm autolyzate were bound to the threetimes permed hair.
