According to the Korea consumer agency’s report, side effects of hair colorant was increased annually. Much interest has been aroused in harmful compounds in dying materials. Therefore this study was conducted a survey on the awareness of hair colorant ingredients, description and actual usage. The survey researched on 400 women and were in their 20~30’s during 2 months from Oct. 1 to Nov. 30.
2014. 315 Answer sheets were analyzed except untruthfulness. As a result of analyzing, the point view of actual usage, 89.2% of the people surveyed said that they dyed them hair color for image. Purchase place of hair colorant were changed unlike previous research results. Looking for awareness of hair colorant ingredients, pernicious ingredients and description, there was a significant difference in awareness of hair colorant ingredients and description according to the categorized age and education. The values of 10 pernicious ingredients of hair colorant were very low, to compare ingredients and pernicious ingredients in hair colorant, showing a difference. As finding of hair colorant’s side effects, 44.8% of the people surveyed were experienced at damaged hair, skin irritation, etc. The value of intention of patch test was low(2.24±0.93). Ultimately, in improvement plan of hair colorant’s description, it should list the whole ingredients while no hazards such as pernicious ingredients. Also consumers could easily recognize hazards and have confidence.
