This study aims to examine how visual culture art education classes affect in forming self-identity of high school students, hence helping their career exploration and choice. For this purpose, this study developed and implemented the visual culture art education classes for 12 Korean high school students residing in China, Guangzhou who participated in 25 sessions of the classes, making individual portfolio of their art works with the themes of self-identity exploration, their own social and cultural surroundings, and their future careers. To analyze the results of the research questions, this study collected their art works, and their works commentary, their reflective journal, and teacher observation journals, and showed positive affects on both the formation of their self-identity and career choice. The results of the study, therefore, indicate mutually close relationship between visual culture art education and career education for youth in terms of their purpose, objectives and features, and further to emphasize the important and effective role and function of the visual culture art education in forming self-identity and career selection of the youth.
