This study divides poems that reveal the Confucian spirit of Ungok into three categories to save his Confucian life. First, it is the Confucian life of Ungok through the laws of the ruler. The realization of the ruler spirit(吏道精神) he showed is revealed through other people(a governor). Under the premise of high moral obligations, government officials presented specific practices such as generous politics, inspiring politics, clean politics, simple politics, and encouraging agriculture, and fair litigation. This is in accordance with the Confucian proposition of self-discipline and rule. Second, it is the Confucian life of Ungok through ascension to government office and resignation.(進退之節) Ungok decided to go into public post and staying at his hometown in his youth. Through his stay in his hometown, he lived a life of eliminating fame and greed by enjoying with nature. Third, to follow and enjoy nature.(遵性樂天) Ungok connects the nature of natural objects with pure virtue throughout the poem, showing unity of the ego and the outside world by the heavenly command. On the other hand, they identified their to follow and enjoy nature aspects with Ungok himself through the life of Do Yeon-myeong and An-hoe.
