The problem of life and death is a Central theme to the entire Russian culture and literature. Understanding of the problem of life and death peculiar and very different from the West. This understanding is manifested the originality of Russian culture and literature. Russians pay attention to true life. For L.Tolstoy death is an important material and morality is an important concept. The theme of death in the works of Tolstoy deals with the problem of meaning of life. In the story Three deaths, Tolstoy describes the death of a farmer who quietly dies in reconciliation with all. According to Tolstoy the fear of death is associated with the lack of meaning of life. For B.Pasternak life is an important material and art is an important concept. In Doctor Zhivago significant religious and philosophical theme, especially the Christian, which in the novel there is a particular life-affirming, bright start. In Doctor Zhivago with the theme of life and death the subject of Christianity, and the idea of life as suffering and sacrifice technique is closely related to the theme of art and the understanding of history. Thus death as a pledge of the Transfiguration, resurrection, new life is the basis of creative concept Pasternak.
