This study attempted to suggest a model through which the changed images of square faces can be expressed by analyzing differences between square faces and facial images by makeup color changes. In terms of research method, a total of 126 different stimuli were fabricated by combining foundation colors (3), eye shadow colors (7), and lipstick colors (6) on square faces using Photoshop. Then, 27 adjective pairs of semantic differential scales were constructed to assess facial images. For stimulus assessment, makeup color-combined photos were compared. For data analysis, factor analysis, ANOVA and Duncan’s multiple range test were performed. The results found the following: The data were classified into four categories: gentleness, dignity, modernity and sociability. In addition, interaction effects were large in foundation, eye shadow and lipstick color combinations. In terms of gentleness, lipstick colors were more influential than eye shadow color changes according to changes in foundation colors when bright colors were used in particular. The dignified factors increased when gray/brown/purple eye shadow and light brown /pink lipstick were used with bright and intermediate-colored foundations. In addition, modernity factors were the highest when gray/purple eye shadow and red lipstick were used, instead of difference in foundation tones. Overall, sociability factors were very low. According to the said results, it is necessary to express makeup in consideration of interaction effects of foundation, eye shadow, and lipstick and perform further studies considering diverse variables such as face type, age and gender.
