This study was carried out to compare the damage of the nail surface and the skin around the nail according to the removal method after gel nail procedure. Targeting 30 adult women aged 20 to 50. The right hand was divided into a group of Steam Removal test group (N = 30), and the left hand was divided into a Foil test group (N = 30) experiment using acetone. To investigate the effect of keratin nail adjuvant, Both First finger, Second finger were treated with no treatment, and Third finger, Fourth finger and Fifth finger were applied with nail reinforcement agent. The duration of the experiment was 4 times for about 8 weeks at intervals of 2 weeks. The moisture content of the skin around the nails, the roughness of the nail surface, the damage of the skin around the nail, the damage of the nail surface and the thickness of the nail were measured every time. The moisture content of the skin around the nails was significantly increased in the steam test group (p<.0001). The roughness of the nail surface was significantly increased in the foil test group (p<.0001). The degree of skin damage around the nails was higher in the foil test group than in the steam test group (p<.0001). The degree of damage of the nail surface was also higher in the foil test group than in the steam test group (p<.0001). In the case of nail thickness, the nail thickness was increased only in the experimental group with Steam Removal method and keratin nail reinforcement (p<.005). This result suggests that the Steam Removal method can reduce the damage compared to the foil off method using acetone.
