Thermal rejuvenation was explored when Zr62Cu17Ni13Al8metallic glass was rapidly heated to at least 100 K higher thanits glass transition temperature at a heating rate of 60 K/s and then quenched into copper molds. The effect of the quenchingtemperature and the cooling rate on rejuvenation was evaluated using transmission electron microscopy images, differentialscanning calorimetry, density measurements, and Vickers indents. This study suggests that the density of flow units is mainlyaffected by the final cooling rate rather than the quenching temperature.
