Gulf Monarchies’ internal and external politics are intricately related and it affects the development of the monarchies' regime security. After experiencing Iran's Islamic Revolution and the West’s Iraqi invasion, Gulf monarchies reacted with the creation of a collective security organization, namely the Gulf Cooperation Council(GCC), and protected their regime from the security threats. The GCC was created because of political and cultural similarities, and also due to their shared destiny. Also, with this organization, monarchies enjoyed their extended influence in the region as leaders of the area. However, after the Arab spring, this order has been disrupted and gulf monarchies’ regime security are threatened by various international and domestic factors. In addition, the rise and fall of the Islamic State(IS) and the spread of Covid-19 made the monarchs worry about their regime's survival. Against this backdrop, this study analyzes the intermestic challenge of the Gulf Monarchs with international and domestic factors and how those factors influence the gulf monarchies' regime security.
