This study verifies whether public support has a positive effect on the psychological sense of the community of artists for performing artists who have experienced public support, and whether the psychological sense of community has a positive effect on their subjective well-being and intention to continue with art as a vocation. In addition, the mediating effect of the psychological sense of community in the relationship between public support, subjective well-being, and intention to continue pursuing art as a vocation was further investigated at an exploratory level. In order to achieve the purpose of the study, a survey was conducted from January to March 2022 for professional artists over the age of 20 who are engaged in performing arts, and structural equation modeling analysis was conducted on the collected data using SPSS Amos 20.0. As a result of hypothesis testing, hypotheses 1, 4, 5 were adopted, which hypothesized that public support would have a positive (+) effect on the psychological sense of community, subjective well-being, and intention to continue pursuing art as a vocation. In addition, hypotheses 2 and 3, which hypothesized that a psychological sense of community would have a positive (+) effect on subjective well-being and intention to continue pursuing art as a vocation and hypothesis 6, which hypothesized that subjective well-being would have a positive (+) effect on their intention to continue pursuing art as a vocation were both adopted. Lastly, hypotheses 7 and 8 were also adopted, which hypothesized that they would play a mediating role between public support and subjective well-being, and between public support and intention to continue pursuing art as a vocation, respectively. Therefore, these results can be interpreted as indicating public support is generally perceived positively by artists, and the results of this study will have theoretical value as an exploratory study that attempts to investigate the relationship between public support, psychological sense of community, subjective well-being, and intention to continue pursuing art as a vocation as perceived by performing artists. It is noteworthy that there was a lack of attempts to explore the psychological mechanism of artists in the past, and the subject and results of this study may offer meaningful insight into the establishment of a new theoretical extension model.
