A Narrative Inquiry on the Experience of Changes in Self-identity in the Re-employment Process ofMarried Women with Career InterruptionJungwha Park Abstract: This study was conducted to explore the experiences and meanings of changes in self-identity in the process of re-employment of married women with career interruptions. The study participants were three women who had experienced re-employment after career interruption, and data were collected through in-depth interviews from April 2021 to May 2021. The data analysis was conducted according to the narrative inquiry procedure of Clandinin & Connelly (2000). The purpose of this study was to reveal the experiences of participants in the process of re-employment after career interruption, and to reveal the meaning of the story and its effect on self-identity. The meaning of the participants’ experiences appeared in 4 themes: ‘a life as if being carried away by a wave, a life like a decalcomania’, ‘a life different from me’, and ‘I am the protagonist of my life.’ The results of this study have significance in understanding the experiences and meanings of change in self-identity in the process of re-employment of married women who have had interrupted careers and can be used as a basis for developing programs for them or applying them to counseling.
