In order to promote overseas employment of college students majoring in beauty, this study conducted an individual interview with employers who are hiring Korean beauty majors and running beauty-related stores in Maryland and Virginia, USA. The core competencies and obstacles for overseas employment were analyzed from the perspective of the employer and the satisfaction and strengths of Korean beauty majors were investigated. The results are as follows. It is most important for college students majoring in beauty who are trying to find a job abroad to learn the language so that they can communicate smoothly. In addition, prior preparation for btaining local qualifications was required. Performance based on collaboration capability is also considered important, so it would be of great help if you could practically adjust interpersonal relationships. On the other hand, a passive attitude to be afraid of new challenges or differences in expectations due to lack of prior information was identified as a clear cause of failure in career development opportunities, thus highlighting the need of prior experience within the country, efficient and effective communication of information with the employer. The strengths of Korean beauty majors are professional knowledge, fast and high technology, responsibility and the ability to catch fast-changing trends and apply them with a creative mind. Therefore, building upon these strengths will help lead towards successful career development abroad. These results are expected to be able to contribute to the preparation of college students majoring in beauty to work abroad in the United States and to maintain stable overseas employment. In addition, it is necessary to expand the regions included in the follow-up study, and to make an in-depth study targeting local beauty majors in the U.S. to find two-way implications for successful overseas employment revitalization.
