This study aimed to propose an empathy lens, and through this, develop an ESD class incorporated with empathy for middle school students and examine the effect of the class. For this purpose, in this study, science-related subject class teacher and students of a middle school in Gyeonggi-do were the subjects of the study. As a result of this study, first, the science-related ESD class incorporated with empathy was effective in improving students' cognitive abilities. Second, after conducting the science-related ESD class incorporated with empathy, students expressed that their interest in the classes increased, and they participated more actively than in previous classes. Third, after conducting a science-related ESD class incorporating empathy, students valued nature for a sustainable life and expressed the idea that nature was more closely related to their lives. In addition, students expressed interest and fun in class, as well as feeling of emotional freedom, mental purification, and healing. Based on these results, this study proposed a science learning model incorporated with empathy (SLME). According to the demands of the times, science education must put empathy, which has been an implicit keyword until now, as an explicit keyword. In the future, studies with these topics are continuously needed, attention and active support are needed.
