The purpose of this study was to provide future research directions by analyzing trends in career transition research in Korea. For this purpose, a total of 350 articles on career transition in KCI journals from 1978 to 2022 were analyzed in terms of the number of papers by year, research subject, research theme, research method. The main results were as follows. First, career transition research began in 1978. From 2008, the number of publication increased to double-digit papers, and studies have been steadily researched until now. Second, research subject was mainly focused on mixed-gender groups, and studies have been researched on adults aged 20s-60s years. Third, studies were classified into three themes: determinant and influencing factors, career transition support, and career transition experience and adaptation. Studies on determinant and influencing factors were appeared for the first time in the late 1970s and have been conducted so far. Factors that determine career transition were largely classified into individual factors, job factors, and environmental factors. Studies on career transition support began with the introduction of job-change support services after the financial crisis, and many of studies mainly focused on veterans and athletes. Studies on career transition experience and adaptation were examined the experience of before and after career transition process and the process of adapting to a new career path for people engaged in various jobs. Fourth, the research method had prominent characteristics for each theme. Most of the studies on determinant and influencing factors were used quantitative research methods, and career transition support studies were most commonly used literature review, and studies on career transition experience and adaptation were most frequently used qualitative research methods. Based on the results of this study, the main implications of career transition research and suggestions for further research were discussed.
본 연구는 진로전환에 관한 국내 연구 동향을 분석함으로써 향후 연구 방향을 제안하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 1978년부터 2022년까지 연구된 진로전환 논문 중 학술지에 게재된 논문 350편을 대상으로 연구시기별 논문 수, 연구대상, 연구주제, 연구방법을 분석하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 진로전환 연구는 1978년부터 시작되었고, 2008년부터 서서히 증가하여 2022년까지 꾸준히 진행되고 있었다. 둘째, 연구대상을 살펴보면 성별을 혼합하여 실시한 연구가 많았으며, 20∼60대 이상까지의 연령층을 대상으로 연구가 진행되고 있었다. 셋째, 진로전환 연구는 결정 및 영향요인, 진로전환지원, 경험 및 적응의 세 가지 주제로 분류되었다. 결정 및 영향요인에 대한 연구는 1970년 후반에 가장 먼저 등장하여 지금까지 이루어지고 있었다. 진로전환을 결정하는 요인은 크게 개인요인, 직무요인, 환경요인으로 분류되었다. 다음으로 진로전환지원 연구는 외환위기 이후 전직지원서비스가 도입되면서 시작되었으며 제대군인과 운동선수를 대상으로 한 연구가 많이 이루어지고 있었다. 마지막으로 경험 및 적응 연구는 다양한 직업에 종사하고 있는 사람을 대상으로 진로전환 전 · 후 과정의 경험이나 새로운 진로에 적응해 나가는 과정을 살펴보고 있었다. 넷째, 연구방법을 살펴보면 주제별로 두드러진 특징이 있었는데, 결정 및 영향요인 연구는 양적연구방법, 진로전환지원 연구는 문헌연구방법, 경험 및 적응에 관한 연구는 질적연구방법이 다수를 차지하고 있었다. 본 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 진로전환 연구의 주요 시사점 및 향후 연구를 위한 제언에 대해 논하였다.
