This study started from the thought of the negative effect of the social stigma concerning investment in community child care centers. The purpose of this study was to examine stigma and the effect of individual, family, school, community factors on the stigma of children in community child care centers. The data were collected from 5, 6th grade students who are attending community child care centers located in Daegu and Gyeongsan city. Data of 175 were analyzed and the results were analyzed using SPSS. The results of the study were as follows. First, children in community child care center reported themselves to be empowered and rated their relationships with parent, peers and teacher, perceptions of the local community positively. And children’s perception of social stigma was not serious. There were statistically significant differences in stigma by gender, family type, religion or not. Second, the empowerment of children, the affection and concern of a parent for a child, peer relationship and community trust were negatively related to the stigma. Third, the reciprocity of community, affection and concern of a parent for a child, religion or not and family type were statistically significant effect on social stigma. Based on these results, various factors were confirmed that can affect the social stigma of children in community child care centers. The practice implications to reduce the stigma of children in community child care center were suggested.
