"carbon neutrality", “ZEB certification” and “mandatory installation of renewable energy systems” have ensured the inevitable introduction of renewable energy along with insulation and high-efficiency equipment systems for a reduction in building energy. Meanwhile, studies have been conducted on the use of various alternative renewable energy sources, such as sunlight, solar heat, ground heat, and fuel cells; however, it remains extremely difficult to apply them to the building sector, except for sunlight and solar heat energies, owing to regional restrictions. In the case of the geothermal source heat pump system, there is a problem of lowering heating performance due to a drop in underground temperature due to an imbalance in heating and cooling loads in domestic climate conditions. Therefore, the solar power system was selected as an auxiliary heat source to supplement the insufficient heat source during the heating period, and previous studies confirmed that the power consumption of the heat pump and the underground heat exchanger circulation pump can be reduced by improving the thermal environment of the heat source. However, since the solar power system requires a lot of initial investment costs, it is important to produce the optimal effect with the geothermal power heat pump system through efficient design and operation. Therefore, in this study, an analysis model was established based on the relational expression of the elements constituting the system for the optimal design and operation of the geothermal source heat pump system linked to solar sources, and a numerical analysis tool was prepared. The optimal design and operation conditions were derived through various parameter studies by analyzing the effect of system switching temperature from geothermal source to solar source through various numerical experiments. As a result of applying it to the target building, it was shown that it was possible to reduce power consumption by 25% compared to the case of using only a geothermal source.
