In this paper, railroads were considered as keywords, focusing on modern Japanese literature and in particular, Seicho works. In addition, it is a ‘train novel’ about the inside and outside of the train, which is depicted as a medium for moving into the fantasy world and death of modern Japanese anxiety by train and suicide of track.
In the main topic, focusing on Seicho’s works, we looked at sociality and railroads as a link in exploring the daily life, desires, and social problems of Japanese people after the war. In addition, the emphasis on travel and locality through the railroads revealed in the work appears to promote the region and promote travel. On the one hand, it is well revealed that the motive and background of the incident are explained by strongly utilizing the reality of the work by frequently appearing local landscapes, life, and dialects.
