This study was conducted to find a way to improve the qualifications of equestrian instructors, which are private qualifications, in a situation where operators of equestrian facilities face a manpower shortage that makes it difficult to hire legal personnel (safety guard) to conduct basic equestrian education.
The research contents consisted of first, survey and analysis of the current status of equestrian instructors, second, job analysis of equestrian instructors, third, designing the qualifications of equestrian instructors, and fourth, preparing a plan to establish new national qualifications for equestrian instructors.
The research conclusions are as follows. First, the name of equestrian instructors should be changed to (tentative name) equestrian facility safety instructors and should be promoted national qualifications. Second, the (tentative name) equestrian facility safety instructor’s duties and duties must be limited to ‘farming and fishing villages local riding facilities’ based on the Horse Industry Promotion Act to overcome overlapping disputes with other national qualifications that may appear in the process of national qualification. Third, for those who have acquired the existing KRA(Korea Racing Authority) equestrian instructor qualification, a curriculum that can be converted into a national qualification should be established by KRA.
In future research, it is thought that it is necessary to study the lifelong education plan to improve the job of equestrian instructors, that is, (tentative name) equestrian facility safety instructors, and to link with horse trainers and therapeutic riding instructors.
