The upper stage of the Korea Launch Vehicle-II(KSLV-II) uses a 7-tonf. class liquid rocket engine and is an open gas generator cycle with a turbo pump supply method that uses kerosene/liquid oxygen as a propellant. First of all, this study provides a brief overview of the design and development process of the upper stage engine. In addition, in the upper engine development process, some specific examples are introduced for ‘what kind of problem occurred and what was the result of the solution for it’. Lastly, the development status of the currently developed KSLV-II upper stage engine and its performance are briefly summarized.
