The transportation has effected economic growth and made changes in spatial organization and behavior of people. As the result, the meaning of space has been altered. It is only one century since the primitive airplane began to fly and the crucial development of the airline industry happened after World War II. Since World War II, the world civil aviation industry has achieved a rapid growth and such growth owed much to technological advancement in the aircraft manufacturing, development of the world economy and continuing governmental support for the industry. Technological innovation lowered the cost as well as the price of air transportation and economic development not only expanded the trade between the regions of the world but also increased the overall disposable income. These factors all have been the impetus to the rapid growth of air traffic. The process of airline network changes in Korea are as follows ; For the first time, scheduled airline began by civilian in 1936. But it ended soon because of the outbreak of world war II. After Korea`s Liberation from Japan, air transportation was reopened and expanded its routes, but it was nationalized by bankrupt in 1962. Government made efforts to develop air transportation, but it ended in failure. It was acceded by civil management again in 1969. After this, airline network has developed remarkably and given priority to long distance, main routes like Seoul-Osaka, Seoul-Tokyo, Seoul-Hong Kong, Seoul-Bangkok. There were historical issues in 1970`s and in 1980`s. It was opening of airline network between Seoul- Los angeles, paris, New York etc.. However, in 1980`s, Korean civil airliners had a difficult time such as the shooting down of the passenger airliner by U.S.S.R and the bombing in the skies of Burma by North Korea. But the globalization of Seoul was accelerated owing to the Asian Games and the Olympics, and the liberization of overseas trips made foreign airlners rush to Seoul. Also our civil airliners opened and expanded the international airline routes actively in order to meet the demands of the flight passengers. In 1990`s, the collapse of Eastern Europe and of the age of ideology made it possible to fly to the communist countries such as Moscow and Peking. The opening of airline routes to the Communist countries saved the time distance and the economic cost in the European airline route. In 1990`s Korean civil airlines network is continuously connected to all over the world.(30 country, 64 cities) Also, the round the world trip airline network was introduced by opening the airline network between Seoul-Sidney, Auckland, Nandi, Cairo, Madrid, Sao Paulo. But in temps of the inbound of foreign airliners as well as the outbound of our airliners and tourist, we have to expand the airports, manage them efficiently, construct the facilities for the transit passengers and develope the InChon international airport as Hub airport for the main role in Northeast Asia. with such tendency of prosperity of sight-seeing, and aviation business, is booming new airport construction and in order to attain central role of demand of air passenger in Asia coming 21 century, they are trying every effort to meet tourists with excellent airport facilities, and with the materialization of safe and ideal airport, and with kind and human feelings. For this reason, and arcing for the bright our civil airlines, governmental support has also played a vital role as it has protected the aviation industry from competition and provided a stable basis for such growth.
