The fragmentation of rocks by the crystallization of salts, for convenience termed "Salt Weathering; is important in a restricted range of environments and produces distinctive topographic forms, especially in arid regions and along the sea coasts. But the salt weathered rocks were found in the inland and the coastal area of Korea. So that the purpose of this article is to study the characteristics and distribu-tdons of salt weathered granite rocks with reference to weathering types and in a viewpoint of climatic-geomorphology. In coastal area of Korea, the salt weathered rocks found predominantly in headland rather than the entrance of bay. It is possible that the classification of the salt weathering in Korea distinguish into nine patterns. They are shelf pattern, cavern pattern, lateral erosion pattern joint-relating pattern, umbrella, pattern, base-elimination pattern, piercing pattern, honeycomb-combined pattern etc. In the salt weathering of the coastal area, the salts were supplied from the sea and the leeward of the rain provide a available condition for salt weathering. It is supposed that in the coastal area, the salt weathering goes on rapidly, depend on the fresh rock meals. On the other hand, we can distinguish the salt weathering of the inland and the coastal area. It is probable that the salt weathering of the inland area does not go on now, in the view point of the absence of rock meals. So that the weathering of the inland, to writer`s opinion, supposed to be the relic of paleo-arid climate.
