This research analyzes the research trend of The Journal of the Korean Urban Management Association from 2004 to September 2021 through applying the methods of text network analysis and topic modeling. As a result of the study, this research finds the following aspects. First, the research trend shows different results when looking at all periods and when looking at each period. The main research trend of the journal for the entire period of this study was about eco-friendly urban development and state land management. However, it changes to business-friendly cities and smart cities as the time approaches to the current period. Second, researchers have increasingly studied new topics such as women- and elderly-friendly cities, that were not revealed in the previous research trend analysis of this journal. Lastly, various topics with strong practical characteristics related to urban administration appear in the research trend of the journal. However the analysis of the research trend of the journal fails to include discussions on theories related to urban administration or connection with adjacent studies. This suggests that there are still challenges to establish academic identity as the study of urban administration.
