본 연구는 사회 문화 환경에 영향을 받는 감성과 이에 따르는 우븐 직물(Woven Fabric)에서의 미적표현의 관계를 규명하고 우븐 직물의 감성적 표현을 이해하기 위한 목적으로 진행되었다. 연구를 위하여 감성과 트렌드에 대하여 이론적으로 고찰하였고, 텍스타일 중 우븐 직물의 텍스처의 감성표현을 살펴보기 위하여 인터넷과 전문 정기간행물을 통하여 사례를 살펴 분석하였다. 오늘날 가속화된 산업화와 디지털화에 반하는 경향이 사회전반에 나타났으며 이러한 경향은 질적가치 중시, 희소가치 중시, 인간정서 중시, 자연친화적인 특징의 성격을 가지고 ‘느림’, ‘아날로그’의 감성으로 투영되어 사회문화 전반에 영향을 미치고 있었다. 이에 ‘느림’, ‘아날로그’에 대한 감성을 미학적 관점에서 분석하여 희귀성, 희소성, 윤리성의 특성을 도출하였고 이를 바탕으로 텍스타일 디자인 중에 우븐 직물의 텍스처에 한정하여 우븐 직물의 입체적 질감표현에 대한 미적 표현사례를 살펴보았다. 위의 사례를 바탕으로 예술적 감성표현, 수공예적 감성표현, 빈티지적 감성표현으로 카테고리를 나누어 분석하여 우븐 직물에 적용된 감성적 텍스처 표현에 대한 분석을 진행하였다. 본 연구의 결과, 우븐 직물의 예술적 감성표현은 직물문양을 구성하는 실의 표면질감특성이 직물의 바닥면(Ground)과 대조를 이루면서 추상적이며 차별화된 직물 텍스처 감성으로 표현되고 있었으며, 수공예적 감성표현으로는 오래전 손으로 직물에 장식을 하는 테크닉인 엮기, 자수, 수직기를 사용한 직물 디자인이 현대의 테크닉으로 재현되면서 수공예에 적합한 실의 형태적 특성이 부각되면서 투박함과 유희적 감성을 주었다. 빈티지적 감성표현에서는 직물의 표면에 실의 올이 풀리거나 닳은 표현과 천연 소재의 실로 헐겁게 직조되었거나 직물의 끝 올을 자연스럽게 찢은 것 같은 표현으로 편안함 감성을 주었으며 주로 천연소재의 실이 적용되었음을 알 수 있었다. 이 연구는 텍스타일 분야에서 감성의 중요성을 인식하고 독특함과 희소성의 가치를 추구하는 현대인들의 욕구에 부합되는 감성을 도출하였고, 이러한 감성이 우븐 직물 텍스처에 표현되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이 연구를 통하여 현재의 감성 트렌드를 이해하고 우븐 직물의 텍스처에 대한 미적 표현의 무한한 발전 가능성을 엿보았으며, 우븐 직물의 텍스처에 대한 심미적인 연구가 학술적으로 계속 진행되길 긍정적으로 기대해 본다.

This study is aimed to examine correlation between emotion that is influenced by sociocultural environment and aesthetic expression on woven fabric and understand emotional expressions found on the surface of woven fabric. For this study, emotion and trends were considered theoretically, and to examine emotional expressions on the texture of woven fabric among the types of textiles, the internet and specialized periodicals were investigated for case analysis. Nowadays, tendencies against accelerated industrialization and digitalization appear generally in our society. The tendencies are characterized by emphasis on qualitative value, scarcity value, and human emotion and also nature-friendliness, and they are influencing the society and culture in general reflected as ‘slow’ and ‘analogue’ sentiments. Hereupon, this study analyzed ‘slow’ and ‘analogue’ sentiments from aesthetic perspectives and drew the properties of rarity, scarcity, and ethicality. Based on that, this author examined the cases of aesthetic expressions as the solid texture expressions of woven fabric by limiting textile design to woven fabric. With the cases above, this study came up with such categories as artistic emotional expressions, handicraft emotional expressions, and vintage emotional expressions and analyzed emotional texture expressions applied to woven fabric. According to the findings, about artistic emotional expressions on woven fabric, the properties of thread’s superficial texture comprising the patterns on the fabric contrast with its ground and expresses both abstract and discriminated fabric texture emotion. Concerning handicraft emotional expressions, weaving or embroidery, the manual technique used to decorate fabric a long time ago, and fabric design created by the handloom are reproduced with modern technique. As the formal characteristics of thread appropriate for handicraft are highlighted, it provides the sentiments of plainness and playfulness. Regarding vintage emotional expressions, we can find the surface of fabric having a ladder or worn-out part seemingly or loosely woven with nature-derived thread or its edges torn naturally. This arouses the sentiment of easiness, and mostly, nature-derived thread is found to be applied. Recognizing the importance of sensibility in the area of textile, this author has drawn sensibilities corresponding to the needs of contemporaries pursuing the value of scarcity and uniqueness and found that the emotions are expressed on the texture of woven fabric. Based on that, this researcher can understand the current trend of sensibility and glance at the endless potential of development in aesthetic expressions on the texture of woven fabric. Also, it is positively expected that aesthetic research on the texture of woven fabric will continue from academic perspectives afterwards.
