The purpose of this study is to examine a relationship among hotel employees" 5 factor personality traits, emotional intelligence, psychological well-being and job performance within structural equation model. The data were collected by employees who were working at the 5-star and 4-star hotels in Seoul and a total of 320 cases were used for analysis.
The results of SEM test were summarized as follows: First, among five factors of personality traits, extraversion, agreeableness and openness to experience had an effect on all factors of emotional intelligence. Neuroticism had a negative influence on self-emotion appraisal, others" emotion appraisal, regulation of emotion. But, conscientiousness had an effect on use of emotion among the 4 subordinate construct valuables of emotional intelligence. Second, among five factors of personality traits, agreeableness, neuroticism and openness to experience had effects on psychological well-being. Third, among 4 subordinate construct valuables, others" emotion appraisal and regulation of emotion had effects on job performance. Fourth, psychological well-being had a positive effect on job performance.
