According to the government’s announcement of the “Zero Energy Building Obligation” to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the role of Photovoltaics (PV) applications has become more important for building electrical energy independence. BIPV (Building Integrated Photovoltaic) systems, which replace existing building materials and produce on-site power generation, have attracted much attention to ensure the maximized installation area within the built environment. However, the preferred installation area to have the optimal angles and maximize the generation is limited because of limited building exterior surface conditions. Accordingly, an increase in power generation can be expected if the angle of the solar module will be adjusted by considering the sun’s incidence angle. In this regard, the combined PV louver system with an angle-adjustable louver and a solar module has been considered one of the alternatives to promote on-site electricity productions and reduce the cooling load in a summer season, and increase visual comport through solar radiation control strategies. Although the PV louver system has the bright side for BIPV applications, the shadow effect by the upper slat and the PV louver Frame leads to some concerns regarding a decrease in power generation.
