In the present work, unsteady aerodynamic performance analysis of a full configuration semi-submersible floating offshore wind turbine (FOWT) is conducted. Three degrees of a semi-submersible platform motions including surge, heave, and pith are considered. The CFD simulation was carried out based on the overset mesh technique to accurately handle the complex motion of a full-scale FOWT. In the present study, the Volume of Fluid (VOF) approach based on the Eulerian method was employed to model the wave-free surface and to capture the light fluid (air)-heavy fluid (water) interface.
