Norway has a long history as an energy nation, building an industry structure based on hydro power more than 100 years ago and as a net exporter of oil and gas for more than 50 years. Today, more than 98% of Norway’s power production is coming from renewable energy, where new wind power capacity will be adding on to the existing hydro power resources. As a part of a deregulated power market in northern Europe, Norway is also an important power storage contributor using the hydro power reservoirs. With sufficient transmission capacity to Europe, Norwegian hydro power is enabling more intermittent power, produced from wind and solar to be incorporated in the European power market. The excess power from Norwegian power production also provides opportunities as a major producer of green hydrogen, to the European as well as the global markets. Norway has produced hydrogen from hydro power industrially for more than 90 years and the legacy is continuing through the company NEL, supplying both alkaline and PEM electrolyzers. Furthermore, large-scale green ammonia production is under development by Yara together with Statkraft and Aker Horizon in s ... 전체 초록 보기
