If Japanese learners use them properly, dictionaries can be very effective. On the other hand, dictionaries can also lead to misuse of words and artificial expressions if learners are not taught how to use them correctly. It is true that many of us use dictionaries without knowing how to use them properly. This research is designed to bring to light both problems with the dictionary itself and problems that learners have when using it. The results from the research tell us that it is essential to teach students how to use dictionaries properly. Moreover, it is the task of the Japanese specialists to make dictionaries more practical by considering the situation of the Korean students who learn Japanese, determining what they need in a dictionary.
