The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of Korean dance and yoga practices exercise on metabolic syndrome risk factors and blood vessel elasticity response in elderly women. The subjects of the korean dance exercise group(n=20), yoga exercise group(n=20) trained for 12-week and the control group(n=20). The variables of metabolic syndrome risk factors(waist circumstance, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, TG, HDL -Cholesterol, fasting glucose), and blood vessel elasticity(left hand, right hand, left foot and right foot) were measured in all the subjects before and after the 12-week Korean dance and yoga training. Two-way ANOVA for repeated measures were performed on all variables. The results of the study were as follows; first waist circumstance, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, TG, fasting glucose were significant decreased and HDL-Cholesterol were increase after 12 weeks korean dance and yoga programs. Second blood vessel elasticity in the left hand, right hand, left foot, and right foot were increase after 12 weeks korean dance and yoga programs. In conclusion, our study demonstrated a significant improvement in the metabolic syndrome risk factors and blood vessel elasticity response after Korean dance and yoga practices in elderly women.
