This study conducted the following experiment to examine muscle strength and fatigue effects of elastic taping in biceps brachii muscle with X-type and Y-type taping. This experiment was conducted to compare muscle strength and fatigue effects by X-type and Y-type taping with 18 normal adult and it divided 9 subjects into experiment group (1) applying X-type taping group (2) applying Y-type taping group. Muscle strength was measured by muscle maximal voluntary isometric contraction(MVIC) and muscle fatigue was measured by strength decrement index(SDI) with biodex analysis. MVIC and SDI were measured using a computerized biodex analysis on elbow flexion before and after treatment. Result of this study can be summarized as follows. 1. MVIC was showed a statically increase(p<.05) after applying Y-type elastic taping but X-type elastic Taping were not showed a statically increase on paired-t test (p>.05). 2. SDI was showed a statically increase(p<.05) after applying Y-type elastic taping and X-type elastic Taping on paired-t test (p<.05). 3. MVIC was showed that Y-type elastic taping effect was statically higher than a X-type elastic taping effect (p<.05) but SDI was showed that X-type elastic taping effect was not statically higher than a Y-type elastic taping effect at compare to each groups on independent-t test (p>.05). These result lead us to the conclusion that Muscle MVIC was influenced by Y type and SDI was influenced by X type elastic kinesiotaping. These results suggest that Y-type taping therapy at around muscle has the capability to develop muscle strength and X-type taping at muscle belly has the capability to develop fatigue. Consequently, optimal stick site according to taping type would be lead to muscle strength increment or fatigue decrement.
