The evaluation of human body composition is an important subject in various sport science fields especially, the volume of muscle and body fat is closely linked to its mechanical function in many health and athletic-related conditions. The present study aimed to compare the differences of estimating body composition by bioelectrical impedance method using elite sport players and university students. Thirty-two taekwondo players, 29 weight-lifting players, and 42 normal university students physically active not elite sports player participated voluntarily in this study. The subjects were fully informed about the procedures to be used as well as the purpose of the study. The physical characteristics and body composition results of the subjects are presented as means±standard deviations. The difference between elite players and normal university students was tested one way analysis of variance. The probability level accepted for statistical significance was set at p<.05. In present study, the bioimpedance of a limited segment on the lower and upper limbs were significantly differenced among three groups. In the future, there is a need for study examining subjects with a wide range of body composition for different sports players and age groups.
