This study discusses how to elevate the current status of golf in Korea as a popular leisure activity by investigating the American golf system. The author argues that the Korean golf system should benchmark the U.S. golf system in three important dimensions. Three key dimensions are as follow. First, from a social and cultural perspective, to achieve positive golf images for the public, those who are engaged in the golf industry should set a precedent. That is, they should contribute to local communities and promote good golf cultures. Second, in terms of institutional systems, the government and golf concerned should improve the regulations, including golf taxes, and construct more public golf courses. Further, there should be more promotional plans to increase revenues. Third, from an environmental perspective, the golf course owners, golf course architects, golf course CEOs should develop and operate environment-friendly program
