The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of circuit training(CT) on physical fitness and serum lipids in overweight, normalweight and underweight middle school girls. Thirty three subjects were divided into 3 groups by the body mass index percentile (BMIP) : underweight group(UG) of 11 girls(BMIP: <15), normalweight group(NG) of 11 girls(BMIP: 15-85) and overweight group(OG) of 11 girls(BMIPI: ≥85). They were under the same exercise conditions to perform the CT with 40-50% intensity of 1RM and 11-13 RPE(one elastic string skipping), for 35-45 min/day, 3 times/week during 10 weeks. After 10 weeeks CT participation, there was all significant effects on physical fitness variables(50m running, bar-cling, standing long jump, sit-ups, sit-and reach and 1200m running and walking) in NG and OG, but UG was not increased at sit-and reach. And in the comparison of serum lipids within each group, the HDL-C mean value of UG and NG were significantly decreased after exercise. In the case of NG, the mean value of TG was were significantly decreased. Concluding from the results, CT has positive effects on the improvement of the physical fitness and serum lipid components in the three groups. Specially, it has effect on the improvement of the physical fitness. Therefore, the application of CT to carry out in physical education classes will be obtained good effects.
