Basketball is played by millions of athletes throughout the world and is the most popular team sport. Numerous studies reported differences between winning and defeated basketball teams of basketball, however there is still much uncertainty and debate surrounding this. In the present study, differences between winning and defeated men's basketball teams in the 1997-203 season Korean Basketball League were investigated. The differences were confirmed by discriminant analysis. The highest affirmative power was obtained in 2 points success, 3 points success, total rebounds, free throw success, steals, defensive rebounds, blocked shots, and illegal defenses, while negative power was obtained in 2 points tries, 3 points tries, turnovers, free throw tries, offensive fouls, and defensive fouls. Base on the results of present study, it is suggested that 2 points success and 2 points tries are most important variables in basketball to win.
