This paper is intended to provide the guidelines for physical education teacher education programs in Korea. The guidelines represent an integrated and multidisciplinary approach to physical education teacher preparation with a focus on learning experiences that across traditional lines. PETE institutions will find that they can accomplish the guidelines through an array of coursework, learning experiences, and fieldwork. Institutions will be given the opportunity to demonstrate compliance by such non-traditional approaches as community service projects, demonstrated competency outside of a course, and self-directed experiences. In many cases, the knowledge portion of a standard may be met in one place with the implementation of that knowledge occurring in another. What is important is that the standard be met with a series of progressive and sequential experiences.
