It is necessary to study in the practical scenes of exercise because most analysis of cardiorespiratory function and blood lactate concentration which related to exercise performed at the limited environment of laboratory. Now, little studies are in rowing and crew, excepting for some advanced counties. Especially, studies making a comparison between excellent players and direct measurement during the real race, is little. Therefore, The purpose of this study was to be know the exercise intensity by analyzing the contribution of %O2max and to give a basic data to rise the performance of crews and to improve the fitness training method by analyzing the change of blood lactate concentration using portable energy metabolic carter(K4b2) during the rowing race. Subjects were composed of Korean player group(N=8) and New Zealander player group(N=8), The results of analysis on cardiorespiratory function and lactate were as follows. 1. Emax, O2max, O2max/wt, HRmax were higher in New Zealander player group than in Korean player group. 2. At each section, the change of %O2max was higher in New Zealander player group than in Korean player group at all section during the rowing race. 3. HRmax was higher in New Zealander player group than in Korean player group at each section during the rowing race, but %HRmax was similar and the recovery was more faster in New Zealander player group. 4. Immediately after the rowing race, lactate was higher in New Zealander player group than in Korean player group. In conclusion, The results of this study suggest that aerobic and anaerobic capacity were higher in New Zealander player group than in Korean player group. Therefore, we thought that Korean players have to futher increase the cardiorespiratory function to improve the racing performance and especially, it is possible to get the improved record in the race if performed as training intensity corresponded to the racing pace.
