The purpose of this paper is to establish the status of local accommodation as being not special, but basic, by examining more carefully the circumstances under which local accommodation is performed. Accommodation, the phenomenon of inserting something into the context that has not been mentioned, is divided into two: local and global. Local accommodation is often performed when it would be impossible to perform global accommodation. That is why some including Heim and Beaver say local accommodation is special, exceptional, and dispreferred. However, I believe that local accommodation is also performed in many cases where global accommodation would not be impossible. Modal subordination and indicative conditionals are typical cases among them. In such cases, local accommodation is quite natural, despite the fact that global accommodation would be possible too.
