This study makes comparisons on emission properties between MSWI and ISWI, particularly dioxin, in accordance with waste components and operating characteristics in the waste incinerators. Industrial wastes is hard to incinerate properly compared to municipal wastes. Caloric value of municipal wastes (2,549 kcal/kg) is higher than design standard of incinerator (2,336 kcal/kg), but caloric value of industrial wastes is similar to the standard. Municipal incinerator of large scale has been using with below 15% of equipment capacity, and the incinerator of medium scale with proper capacity. However, industrial wastes have been incinerated with overweighted capacity of over 16% in large-scale equipments, 25% in medium scale and 38% in small scale. Quantity of dioxin in municipal waste incinerator is dramatically decreased from 15.25 to 12.86 ng-TEQ/Nm3 and that in industrial wastes 5.53 to 4.96 ng-TEQ/Nm3 since 2003 in which regulation of dioxin has been preformed. But improvement of operation system and investment of equipment in equipment capacity of 0.2 ton/hr of municipal wastes and industrial wastes are required because the equipments are difficult to meet the emission standard.
