Ten years have passed since South Korean Protestant Church and Christian NGOs provided humanitarian aids for North Korea. We can also call those activities 'Diakonia' which means serving neighbors who are suffered from hunger and diseases, The purpose of this study is to analyze the current status of this humanitarian aid and to reflect on the outcome along with assessing to draw solutions facing some issues and problems. The results of this research will be the basis for recommendations on future steps of humanitarian aid in North Korea including its effective implementation. Humanitarian aid data for North Korea were collected and classified into individuals, local churches, denominations, and Christian NGOs to be the integral part of the research to facilitate answering the main problem. This study provides a comprehensive picture of humanitarian assistance of people with opposite views on North Korea. The study is also going to show Protestants control 33 more than 40 percent of total nongovernmental humanitarian aids of South Korea. As it was seen and noted, the humanitarian aids for the period of 10 years has helped improve the food problem in North Korea. More than a million, mostly children, suffering from hunger were freed from starvation. It also paved the way to evangelize North Korea indirectly as it is demonstrated in the construction of Pyeong-yang Theological Seminary. Lastly, it created an atmosphere of peace and reunification in Korea. The humanitarian assistance of protestants, however, have many problems such as competition among organizations, difficulty in monitoring, lack of specialty and a lack of systematic plan and among others. Suggestions will be presented to counter the obstacles aforementioned. First of all, the paper suggests that items may be monitored thoroughly by the aid organizations. Second, the South Korean authorities and Christian organizations on the humanitarian assistance should improve relations and examine cooperation more systematically. Moreover, the interrelationships of individuals, local churches, denominations, and Christian NGOs should also be taken into account and required to cooperate closer and more efficiently. Establishing a Christian Coordinating Committee is an important step in realizing the goals of the humanitarian aid. Third, the humanitarian aid should be changed from "urgent relief" to "development support." The humanitarian aids for North Korea must be continued over the next years. Suspending the aid could translate into going to starvation of about one third of the North Korea´s population. The food problem is still a serious problem in North Korea. 34 There is no chance of preaching the Gospel directly in North Korea until now. Therefore the humanitarian aid will be one of the best ways to evangelize North Korea. As we quote from the Bible on Mark 12:31, Jesus said, "Love your neighbor as yourself." This is God's will for us in Christ Jesus to share our love with North Koreans who are suffering from starvation. Key words
