The purpose of this paper is to introduce studies on differing modes of expression in Japanese and Korean. "Modes of expression analysis" aims at studying the entirety of possible linguistic practices and expressions for a given idea or communicational situation in relation to each other. The application of modes of expression analysis in a contrastive study of Japanese and Korean involves taking equivalent linguistic situations and considering what modes of expression would be employed in each respective language. In this paper I will introduce quantitative study which I conducted regarding Korean modes of expression for the nominal of Japanese.
