The study was carried out to analyze tree-ring dates of 6 coffin woods of Bae(Seongsan)- Family, excavated in Yougsanmyeon, Youngdong, Chungbuk, Korea. Tree-ring dates provides a calendar year to annual ring and cutting year if the bark present. Results of tree-ring dating indicated the coffin wood of Bae Chun-Jo was cut in A.D. 1622. The coffin of Bae Chun-Jo’s wife was dated as A.D. 1609. They completed latewood, so the cutting season of the tree for Bae Chun-Jo’s coffin turned out between 1622 autumn and 1623 spring, Bae Chun-jo’s wife coffin between 1609 autumn and 1610 spring. Coffin of Bae Sang-Gyung(son of Chun-Jo) was dated as 1690+year, Bae Si-Ik(grandson of Chun-Jo) as 1682+, Bae Sae-Gwang (great-grandson of Chung-Jo) as 1701+ and Bae Sae-Gwang’s wife as 1696+. In fact, due to the seasoning and storage periods, actual coffin manufacturing and burial times may be a little different from the tree-ring dates.
