Waste concrete has been increased by the accelerating development of urban and the fast increasing redevelopment projects, so the recycling of waste concrete is being actively progressed. However the usage is limited to lower value-added products such as the roadbed material etc. While the researches and developments have been performed to produce the high quality recycled aggregate, recycled fine aggregate has low quality because it contains large amount of old mortar. Thus to produce the high quality recycled aggregate, breaking and washing process must be added to the existing process and the ingredient of old mortar must be removed from aggregate. Also, alkaline water which occur from treatment process of the waste concrete is becoming the cause of environmental problem. Accordingly, this research is to develop on the high quality recycled fine aggregate using CO₂gas. As the results, dry density and absorption ratio of recycled fine aggregate processed by CO₂gas has satisfied the quality standard for recycled aggregate which is dry density more than 2.2, absorption ratio less than 5%. Also, it is also shown that the strength of mortar using recycled fine aggregate treated by carbonated water was superior to that of recycled fine aggregate with natural water.
