The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between ball speed and foot pressure distribution. Ten over- head pitchers were volunteered. Subjects are divided into two groups; A(average throwing speed is around 130 km/h), B(average throwing speed is around 140km/h). All subjects completed pitching ten times from pitching mound distance. Among them, the results when the ball was decided as ‘strike’ were collected to analyze. Foot pressure Measurement system(Capacitive sensors, Pedar Mobile, Novel, Germany) were used to measure foot pressure distri- bution. Pressure distribution is analyzed in ten sections on right foot during wind-up and arm cocking phase in which a foot contacts the surface. Among A group whose average pitching speed is 131.25±1.03km/h and B group whose speed is 139.39±1.61km/h, significant difference of p<0.05 is revealed on M4(Lateral Midfoot), M6(2ndMetatarsal), M7(Lateral Metatarsal) when the verifying of the difference between groups is conducted. The distribution of dynamic balance in wind-up phase according to group and individual is p<0.05 on only M3 and A group's distribution is higher than that of B group on M4, M6, M7. When it comes to comparing phases, in arm cocking rather than wind-up phase, the significant decrease in group B is revealed than that of group A. As a result of this test, the dynamic balance of pitching is very important and it is necessary to train for improving ball speed hereafter.
